Grandpa sues child »

VAIL, Colo. - A 60-year-old man is taking an 8-year-old boy and his dad to court, claiming the boy caused a ski-slope collision that left the older man with a shoulder injury.

David J. Pfahler of Allentown, Pa., sued in federal court in Denver, claiming Scott Swimm, then 7, was skiing fast and recklessly when they collided in January, the Vail Daily reported Thursday.

The suit claims Pfahler suffered a torn shoulder tendon and seeks compensation for physical therapy, vacation time, nursing and medical services provided by Pfahler’s wife, and other expenses. It estimates the couple’s losses at more than $75,000.

Scott’s father, Robb Swimm, said that he saw the crash and that Scott was skiing slowly and in control.

“It wasn’t a violent collision or anything; Scott just kind of tapped his ski boots,” he said this week.

Scott’s mother, Susan Swimm, said her son weighs 48 pounds and couldn’t have been going more than 10 mph.

“Who in the world sues a child?” she said. “It just boggles my mind every day.”

Pfahler’s Denver attorney, Jim Chalat, declined to comment on specifics but says Pfahler, who works for Reader’s Digest, wants to go back to work.

Roofing Company Billionaire dies by falling through roof »

The 91st richest man in the U.S., a roofing company billionaire, has died after falling through his home garage’s roof, local authorities said Friday.

Ken Hendricks, 66, was checking on construction on the roof over his garage at his home in the town of Rock Thursday night when he fell through, Rock County Sheriff’s Department commander Troy Knudson said. He suffered massive head injuries, according to his company, ABC Supply Co.

Hendricks’ wife called authorities and attempted CPR on her husband, he said. Hendricks was taken first to a Beloit hospital and then transferred to Rockford Memorial Hospital in Winnebago County, Illinois.

He was pronounced dead there early Friday morning, Winnebago County coroner Sue Fiduccia said. An autopsy is planned for Friday.

Earlier this year, Hendricks announced plans to build a wind turbine tower plant in Keokuk, Iowa, hiring 350 people. The mayor of the southeast Iowa town said he does not know how Hendrick’s death will affect the project.

Hendricks was the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, the self-described nation’s largest wholesale distributor of roofing. The Beloit-based company does about $3 billion in business a year.

Hendricks had a net worth of $3.5 billion in September, according to Forbes magazine. That made him the country’s 91st richest person, according to the magazine’s ranking of American billionaires.

But he seemed unfazed by his wealth.

“It doesn’t make any difference to me: I can’t spend it,” Hendricks said in an interview with Inc.com in September 2006. “I’d have to sell the company, and I’ll sell the company over my dead body.”

Hendricks, the son of a Janesville roofer, worked side-by-side with his father growing up. A high school dropout, he started his own roofing business at age 21, according to his biography on ABC Supply’s Web site.

Tired of having to deal with multiple suppliers scattered around the country, he and his wife, Diane, started a national supply distribution chain in 1982.

The company celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, with 6,000 employees in 390 locations nationwide.

“This is an enormous tragedy and a great loss to the family, associates and the community,” ABC Supply said in a statement.

Hendricks and his wife also owned a variety of companies through the Hendricks Holding Co. and a property development group with more than 25 million square feet of industrial and commercial real estate.

The couple had seven children, according to their biographies.

Elect Hussein for President »

Do you really think that someone with the middle name of Hussein and a last name that rhymes with Osama is going to be elected President? A little Manchurian Candidate don’t you think?

When will the media come forth with the Obama connections to Chicago political corruption? Anyone investigating this? How many people nationally have heard of Tony Rezko, the Chicago developer and restauranteur who is currently up on charges of corruption and bribery?

In November, 2006, Barack Obama drew media scrutiny because he had purchased his house in 2005, on the same day that Antoin Rezko purchased an adjoining empty lot. Obama subsequently bought from Rezko an adjoining strip of land from the empty lot. There is no evidence that Obama broke any laws or did anything improper. However, Obama acknowledges that the exchange may have created the appearance of impropriety, and stated “I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it.”

In June, 2007 the Chicago Sun-Times published a story about letters Obama had written to city and state officials in support of a low-income senior citizen development project headed by Rezko and partner Allison Davis. The project received more than $14 million in taxpayer funds, including $885,000 in development fees for Rezko and Davis. Before the Sun-Times discovered Obama’s letters in support of Rezko, Sen. Obama had told the Tribune, “I’ve never done any favors for him.” In response, Obama spokesman Bill Burton said “This wasn’t done as a favor for anyone, it was done in the interests of the people in the community who have benefited from the project. I don’t know that anyone specifically asked him to write this letter nine years ago. There was a consensus in the community about the positive impact the project would make and Obama supported it because it was going to help people in his district.” Rezko’s attorney responded that “Mr. Rezko never spoke with, nor sought a letter from, Senator Obama in connection with that project.

Also in June 2007, The Chicago Sun-Times discovered that Obama had collected at least $168,308 from Rezko over Obama’s 12 years in politics, approximately triple the estimate that Obama had provided of Rezko’s donations. Obama had told the Sun-Times that Rezko raised “between $50,000 and $60,000″ during Obama’s political career. However, Obama has since donated all campaign contributions from Rezko to charity.

Questionable political and business ties. No business experience. Very little government experience. No foreign policy experience. No military experience.

If it wasn’t for an African-American experience, he wouldn’t even be considered as a national candidate.

Bill Clinton . . . a Jim Henson creation »

Hillary Clinton has been going around overstating her political experience for several years now. Clinton recently told a crowd in Nevada “I think my political experience of having been on the receiving end of so much incoming fire over the years equips me for understanding you don’t take this personally.” If you believe her, you would think that she was a master puppeteer with her hand up Bill’s ass.

What is her political experience?

Candidate, United States President, 2008
Senator, United States Senate, 2000-present
First Lady, President Bill Clinton, 1992-2000
First Lady, State of Arkansas, 1978-1980, 1982-1992.

This is her political experience. 7 years of elected office. 12 years as the spouse of someone who ran the worst state in the United States for education, GDP, and virtually any other benchmark. 8 years of the spouse to the President of the United States.

By this logic, if you’re a spouse of a doctor . . . you are entitled to do heart surgery tomorrow because you have “experience”.

In addition . . . here is her “professional” experience:

Attorney, Rose Law Firm, 1976-1992
Faculty, University of Arkansas Law School, 1975
Author
Former Staff Attorney, Children’s Defense Fund.

So . . . by this line of logic . . . if you haven’t ever run a business, you still have the experience to balance a budget. If you haven’t ever led the creation of government policy or had diplomatic experience, you can lead a government. If you haven’t ever chaired a committee on foreign relations or dealt with the military, you still have significant experience to lead the world.

What a joke.

If she didn’t have ovaries, her polls would be dead last.

Can I get an “amen”? »

Finally someone in congress has woken up from their deep sleep to realize that there is a pack of people preying on the morons of this country. The retarded have been giving their money for years to people who spend it on corporate jets, Rolls Royces, and other lavish luxuries. No this is not for the guys at Enron and Tyco. This time it is all in the name of Jesus. Chuck Grassley just rolled in from the cornfield and figured this out. Brilliant deduction, Holmes! Let’s go spend some taxpayer money on an investigation of people we already know are debunking folks out of their cash. THIS IS NOT A REVELATION - biblical or otherwise.

As a sidenote, if you actually gave your money to someone named Creflo or Taffi Dollar . . . you may be beyond hope for mental or spiritual salvation.
